Travellerspoint was launched in 2002 to create an international meeting point for travellers worldwide.

They now launches "Travellerspoint Badges"

Travellerspoint 'badges' (widgets) give quite a lot of options available to both users and other sites that want to integrate some rapidly changing quality content into their site!

I ask Sam Daams (co-founder of Travellerspoint.com) some questions about this new fonctionality.

> How the user create this stuff, it's like Netvibes ? it's easy modulable ?

Well, yes, some what similar to Netvibes. Basically there are a few general badges that will can be quickly customized by whoever wants to install them on their site.

You can paste a piece of code on any site and it will bring up the last 4 featured photos from Australia. If you want to display Canada photos (for example on a page about Canada :)), you would change the CountryIso2= to CA, so CountryIso2=CA . We have thousands of manually featured photos so there is a featured photography gallery for pretty much every country out there. That's just one example, the other badges work similarly.

The member badges are a way for members to display content they create on Travellerspoint on other sites (a lot of members also are on Facebook or other blogging systems, but use our maps for example). With this system they could include their map on any other site and it would update automatically every time they update it on Travellerspoint.

> Do you have some statistic, (users number for Travellerspoint...)

If you're looking for some general stats on the site they can be found at http://www.travellerspoint.com/stats.cfm .

We have over 140 000 members. Here's a rough breakdown of ages that we have:

Under 18 (2000)
18 > 25 (60000)
25 > 35 (40000)
35 and over (35000)
-

My reflexion, for peoples who think that 'travel social media » it's a hype and only for "young peoples", well, 25 % members are 35 year old and over !!!

Check out Travellerspoint, they make a excellent job and have a vibrant travel community.
